Bryer's Beach

Only A Handful Of People Ever Knew Bryer's Beach Exist. Many Years Ago I Use To Fish With My Grandfather And Uncle Rick. My Uncle Worked At A Golf Course. He Befriended A Man That Had Worked There For A Number Of Years. A River Snaked Through The Course And This Man Knew It Like The Back Of His Hand.
A Special River Bank Would Eventually Be Named Bryer's Beach. I Have No Recollection As To Why The Name Bryer. I Suspect The Answer Lies With This Man's Widow. I Recently Seen This Woman And I Casually Told Her I Knew Of Bryer's Beach. A Smile Came To Her Face When I Mentioned This To Her.
"Bob" Would Send His Line Out Into The Middle Of The River, Baited With The "Family Recipe", Then Care For The Course As His Job Required. On His Break He Would Check His Lines And See If A Fish Was On The Other End. My Grandfather Taught Me How To Fish For Carp. He Once Told Me If I Could Land A Carp I Could Land Anything. The Family Recipe Was Made From Corn Meal. Carp Love It And Your Chances Of Battling This Ferocious Fish Become More Real.
I Fished Bryer's Beach Both Night And Day. Many Memories Are On That River Bank. Memories Of My Grandfather. Memories Of My Uncle. Memories I Will Hold For The Rest Of My Life. If Bryer's Beach Was Important Enough To Pass Onto Someone Else, I Certainly Would. I Believe It Was A Man's Dream Land That Was Named For No Particular Reason. I Am Not Questioning It, Yet I'm Happy I Was Able To Be A Part In It. I Fondly Remember My Childhood Days Of That Golf Course. The Warmer Months Of Fishing, Ball Hawking, Mushroom Hunting & Eventually Caddying At 7:00 On A Saturday Morning For $6.00 . The Winter We Returned For A Snow Packed Hill Which Delighted Both Young And Old In Sledding Down It.
I'm Happy I Passed On My Childhood Memories To My Own Children. We Searched For Mushrooms And Sled Down That Monster Of A Hill.
Not Only Is Bryer's Beach A Memory, It's Also Very Close To My Heart. This Chapter Of Life Goes Full Circle.
Thanks For The Memories....
