Mary Dean Was Like No Other. She Had Been A True Friend For Many Years. We Met Over The CB Radio. Her Handle Was Brown Sugar. We Would Talk Every Day And Would Play Games On The Radio At Night Time.
She Was A Very Large Woman With A Heart Of Gold.
I Have My Fond Memories Of Mary. My Biggest Was When Danville Had No Water Supply For A Week. It Was Horrible Being Around People Who Couldn't Take A Bath. We Went To A Friends House Who Had Well Water So We Could Bathe. I Don't Think I Could Live With Myself If I Couldn't Take A Bath. It Was Because Danville Received A Lot Of Rain And The Flood Water Flooded The Pumping Station For The Water Company. The Pumping Station Served The Entire City Of Danville. Company Officials Had To Wait Until The Water Receded Before They Could Begin Operation Again.
Some Businesses Had To Close Because They Were Unable To Wash Or Offer Bathroom Facilities To Their Customers. Bingo However Was On Because They Had Porto Potties Delivered. When Intermission Was Called Those Who Had To Use The Bathroom Had To Use The Porto Potty. While She Was Outside Using It I Noticed A Slide Lock On The Outside Of The Potty. The Ornery Person That I Am I Locked Her In.
When Mary's Job Was Finished She Attempted To Get Out. She Banged And Hollered. Of Course I Am On The Outside Laughing My Butt Off. Apparently She Heard Me And Said Gregory You Better Let Me Out Of Here Right Now! It Stinks In Here! I Slid The Lock Open And Swiftly Ran Back Into The Building. She Knew Who It Was That Did It But Friends We Were And This Was Just One Of The Fondest Memories I Have Of Her.
She Recently Passed Away With A Long Battle With Cancer. She Was Only 60 Years Old. She Will Always Be Remembered By Those Who Loved Her Gentle Soul.
As I Use To Call Her Jokingly On The CB Was Elzmerelda Poontang. May You Rest In Peace.
